CASE STUDY:
Adding $1 million to the bottom line

CHALLENGE:
Florida destination wedding planner needed higher profitability. Her company planned 120 weddings per year with 8 employees but were left with small, if any profit at year end after all that work.

Tami Forero flew to their office for several days to review all the processes, procedures, staffing and financials.

RECOMMENDATION:
-She recommended the owner first get out of debt by getting rid of the expensive office she rented and sell all the high end office furnishings to pay down the debt including a high ticket car lease.
-Next, make her employees contractors as their clients were very seasonal and the team could work for other planners as well and make higher hourly rates as contractors. The owner could save on off season expenses and taxes, insurance and 401K.
-Contract with vendors to provide limousine service for all destination client meetings, food & beverage during site tours and any other expenses associated with initial meetings.
-Apply for an IATA number that allows event planners to receive a 10% commission on all group hotel bookings from every hotel in the world. This company was planning 120 destination weddings which included an average of 100 sleeping rooms for each client at beach resorts but were unaware of commission opportunities.

RESULT:
-The company instantly added $840,000 in income to the bottom line.
($350/night average 2 nights for 100 rooms 120 times per year = $8,400,000 x 10%=$840,000)
-
Paying down debt, changing the staffing model and sharing meeting expenses with vendors added another $160,000 to the company's bottom line
